Reforestation

One of our major goals is Reforestation:

What is reforestation?
Why is it so important?
What advantages does it bring?

Reforestation is the consequence of deforestation. Quite simply, reforestation only occurs after an event causes deforestation.

So, what is Deforestation? Deforestation can be defined as a complete clearance of trees, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation.

-It is usually a planned and deliberate felling of trees, in order to clear the land to use in activities other than forests.

And what is reforestation? Basically, it is the act of re-growing trees. Consider an area that has been deforested. Well, reforestation is the act of replanting trees in that area.

-Reforestation is a deliberate or planned movement to regrow vegetation lost due to human activity, natural calamity, or sudden climate change

What are the major causes of deforestation:

- Effects of Industrialization: Rapid industrialization has deeply changed the earth's landscape. More factories, less agricultural lands. The rural exodus after the industrial revolution, with people looking for more industrial areas, led to huge areas of forests being cut down to increase the metropole's size.

- Urbanization: The massive growth of cities has furthered the deforestation around the city areas. Also, cities need to connect with other cities, and those connections continue to cause huge pockets of deforestation in literally every country.

-Major wildfires. All over the world, every year we witness the consumption of thousands of forest acres. And unfortunately, with each passing year, it is getting worse.

The importance and advantages of Reforestation:

As we all know, the world is at stake. Despite a few unreasonable country leaders, it is widely advocated that the world is suffering. Climate change, global warming, greenhouse effect. This is causing massive damage to the world's biodiversity. Animals are losing their natural habitats. And the way to revert this is reforestation. (insert David Atennoborough Link).

We need to reduce CO2 levels in our atmosphere. Air quality is a serious problem for human beings. Nowadays, everyone is wearing a breathable mask, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But in some countries, people have been wearing them for a long time, due to pollution levels. And in other countries, people should be wearing them. And this is not acceptable. As stated in our other articles, we need to cut our carbon emissions. But we also need to reforest. Why? Plants are sources of combat against these phenomenons.

It is known that plants help to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. A planned and thoughtful reforestation will mitigate the effects of deforestation and reduce global warming.

In addition to fighting global warming and climate change, reforestation plays a fundamental role in the restoration of natural habitats.

Another nocive effect of deforestation that is "solved" through reforestation is soil erosion. Roots are the best way to prevent this. They hold on to the soil, preventing the topsoil from running off, while also preserving the fertility of the soils. This is also important to our water cycles, with trees acting as some sort of natural storage system to rainwater.
